2/21/2023 0 Comments Crop vs full frameMounting these EF-S lenses on full-frame Canon DSLRs could cause internal damage to your camera, as the bayonet could bump against internal elements.īy making the two mounts different, Canon prevents EF-S lenses from being mounted on a full-frame camera. Crop lenses sit deeper into the body in Canon’s APS-C DSLRs. This provides the effect of shooting with a longer lens.Ĭanon EF and EF-S mounts are different. This will effectively tell the camera not to use the data from the entire full-frame sensor, but rather extract an APS-C-size crop from it. The cameras then offer a ‘crop’ mode you can enable when using APS-C lenses. This means you can mount your Sony or Nikon crop lenses onto Sony or Nikon full-frame bodies. Nikon and Sony both allow their full-frame and APS-C lenses to be used interchangeably with their full-frame and APS-C format cameras. Which full-frame cameras allow APS-C lenses? This can be an expensive repair job, so it’s best avoided with EF-S lenses. This is due to the extra long baffle on the mount. This really only happens though when you’re shooting in very bright conditions or right next to a main light source.Ī word of warning: as reader Rob Bridden rightly pointed out on Facebook, attaching Canon EF-S lenses to full-frame cameras can cause damage to the mirror mechanism of your camera. This is because an APS-C lens has a narrower field of view, so if you’re shooting close to the sun the light has no physical path through the lens. So the main benefit of using APS-C lenses and third-party equivalents instead of full-frame is that these ‘crop’ lenses offer wider coverage for those times when you need to capture as much of the scene as possible.Īnother thing to consider is that you can sometimes get more flare in your images when using a full-frame lens on an APS-C camera body. This means you are capturing less of your scene when you mount a full-frame lens on an APS-C-sensor camera.įor portraiture this isn’t an issue, but if you are shooting sport or wildlife or landscape photography, even, you sometimes want to capture as much of the scene as possible. So as you’ve probably figured out, if you have a full-frame lens with an image circle bigger than your camera’s sensor, your camera will only record an image from the middle of that imaging circle. The effect is that a 50mm full frame lens mounted on an APS-C body with a 1.5x crop factor will capture a field-of-view that is the same as a 75mm on a full frame body.įor Canon, this crop factor is 1.6x. This means your camera’s APS-C-size sensor magnifies the scene to produce an image that will match the lens’s full-frame image circle. When you mount a full-frame lens on a camera with an APS-C sensor you will get what is called a crop factor. This image circle collaborates with your sensor, and as such lenses are designed to be used with specific sensor sizes.Ī full-frame lens is roughly equivalent to a 35mm frame of film, while an APS-C sensor is a little bit smaller. Turn your lens around and you’ll see that lenses are designed with an imaging circle around the portion of the optic that mounts into your camera body. There’s no denying the image quality produced by full-frame lenses, but when to use APS-C lenses instead of full-frame?

2/21/2023 0 Comments Garmin backup camera bluetoothTwo Real People’s Opinions George S – Scranton, PA There is no mention of the maximum capacity of compatible Micro SD card, however. Moreover, this internal storage can be expanded via a Micro SD card that you have to separately buy. The Garmin DriveSmart 55 and 65 have massive internal storage of 16 GB which is plenty to store data and its updates. Since maps can be accessed without the usage of the internet, these maps are stored locally on the devices. If you are going on a long trip, I suggest preparing the charger before the trip or connect it to a charger immediately. You will be needing to connect it to a charger after this period. Their battery life fluctuates depending on certain conditions such as temperatures (on a sunny day where temperatures are high, expect it to be lower). Their batteries are rated to last up to 1 hour of continuous usage. The Garmin DriveSmart 55 and Garmin DriveSmart 65 are powered by a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery. You can answer the calls you get from your smartphones with their hands-free calling. Moreover, their Bluetooth lets you sync your smartphones with these Garmin DriveSmart GPS navigators. You will be immediately prompted if there is an available update. Their Wi-Fi feature is used to update their maps and software wirelessly without a need for a computer. Wireless ConnectivityĪlthough these GPS navigators do not need a wireless connection to function, the Garmin DriveSmart 55 and 65 have built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Nonetheless, having compatibility with Garmin backup cameras is still a welcome feature. The Garmin DriveSmart 55 and 65 are only compatible with Garmin BC 30 and BC 40 which, to be honest, is pretty limited. As these are Garmin products, they are only compatible with backup cameras also from Garmin. Backup cameras let you navigate and park your car with ease. The Garmin DriveSmart 55 and 65 also function as displays for backup cameras. Both have variants that are Alexa-compatible. Moreover, you can use their voice recognition to ask for directions. Camping and picnics are also easier to do with their National Parks Directory so you can discover more of America’s most treasured natural resources. Certain attractions also have pictures and descriptions such as notable parks, monuments, museums, and historic sites. Both GPS navigators have built-in TripAdvisor traveler ratings and driver alerts so you can easily choose the best hotels, restaurants, and attractions along the way or near your destination. Traveling and road trips are going to be more fun with the travel features that the Garmin DriveSmart 55 and 65 have. Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, and the Bahamas with the latest map updates and preloaded street maps. Map coverage includes the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico, U.S. The Garmin Drive App also lets you access features such as live parking and photoLive traffic cameras. This feature is particularly helpful to avoid delays and find time-saving detours. You have access to live traffic and weather with the Garmin Drive App. Both display a clear and detailed map of North America which is updated constantly. The Garmin DriveSmart 55 and 65 do this job perfectly. Looking for directions to go to a certain place is the main purpose of a car GPS navigator. Let’s look at their similarities if these car GPS navigators are worth your money. The difference between the Garmin DriveSmart 55 and 65 are primarily found on their displays. The larger display of the Garmin DriveSmart 65 also translates to a larger physical dimension and weight. Therefore, the text and graphics on the DriveSmart 55 are sharper and crisper than that of the DriveSmart 65. Although the Garmin DriveSmart 55 has a smaller display, its resolution is higher at 1280 x 720 pixels compared to the 1024 x 600-pixel resolution of the Garmin DriveSmart 65. Late-night drives are also possible with their LED backlight. Both car GPS navigators have multi-touch capabilities for ease of use. The Garmin DriveSmart 55 has a decently sized 5.5” display while the Garmin DriveSmart 65 almost has a 7-inch panel. One of their major differences is in the size of their displays. The Garmin DriveSmart 55 and 65 do not have much of a difference as they came from the same Garmin product line. The campaign was interrupted by two major terrorist attacks: Manchester and London Bridge thus national security became a prominent issue in its final weeks. Negotiation positions following the UK's invocation of Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union in March 2017 to leave the EU were expected to feature significantly in the campaign, but did not as domestic issues took precedence instead. The Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) and Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) lost all their seats. In Northern Ireland, the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) won 10 seats, Sinn Féin won seven, and Independent Unionist Sylvia Hermon retained her seat. The Green Party retained its sole seat, but saw its share of the vote reduced. In Wales, Plaid Cymru gained one seat, giving it a total of four seats. UKIP, the third-largest party in 2015 by number of votes, saw its share of the vote reduced from 12.6% to 1.8% and lost its only seat. The Liberal Democrats made a net gain of four seats. The SNP, which had won 56 of the 59 Scottish seats at the previous general election in 2015, lost 21. The Scottish National Party (SNP) and the Liberal Democrats, the third- and fourth-largest parties, both lost vote share media coverage characterised the result as a return to two-party politics. The election had the closest result between the two major parties since February 1974 and resulted in their highest combined vote share since 1970. It was the first election since 1997 in which the Tories made a net loss of seats or Labour a net gain of seats. The Conservative Party made a net loss of 13 seats despite winning 42.4% of the vote (its highest share of the vote since 1983), whereas the Labour Party made a net gain of 30 seats with 40.0% (its highest vote share since 2001, representing its highest increase in vote share between two general elections since 1945). From a 21-point lead, the Conservatives' lead began to diminish in the final weeks of the campaign. Opinion polls had consistently shown strong leads for the Conservatives over Labour. May said that she hoped to secure a larger majority to "strengthen hand" in the forthcoming Brexit negotiations. Under the Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011 an election had not been due until May 2020, but Prime Minister Theresa May's call for a snap election was ratified by the necessary two-thirds vote in the House of Commons on 19 April 2017. It was the first general election to be contested by either May or Corbyn May had succeeded David Cameron following his resignation as prime minister the previous summer, Corbyn had succeeded Ed Miliband who resigned following Labour's failure to win the general election two years earlier. The Conservative Party, which had governed as a senior coalition partner from 2010 and as a single-party majority government from 2015, was defending a working majority of 17 seats against the Labour Party, the official opposition led by Jeremy Corbyn. The governing Conservative Party remained the largest single party in the House of Commons but lost its small overall majority, resulting in the formation of a Conservative minority government with a confidence-and-supply agreement with the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) of Northern Ireland. The 2017 United Kingdom general election was held on Thursday 8 June 2017, two years after the previous general election in 2015 it was the first since 1992 to be held on a day that did not coincide with any local elections. Composition of the House of Commons after the election 2/20/2023 0 Comments Chronological age in monthsThere's a reason "Tank Recovery Vehicles" like the US M88 are a thing.Ĭrews are much "easier" to replace than a tank chassis. Thus, there is a heavy emphasis in mechanized warfare on recovering and repairing any partial losses that don't involve the entire tank itself being completely destroyed. Modern tanks are stupidly difficult to produce, and the time it takes to make one and ship it to the front is the major bottleneck in attrition of equipment during Cold War peer and near-peer conflict. If not field-repairable, the original tank itself will be recovered if possible, sent back to a service unit for repair and refurbishing, and re-deployed where a unit needs reinforcements or reconstitution. If the original tank is in good enough condition that it can be field-repaired or the unit is unlucky enough to receive a replacement tank (replacement equipment is prioritized towards units that are likely to see heavy action), they'll get to crew that instead. Once rejoined, they'll fill in positions vacated due to other casualties or otherwise assist with their particular roles. One of the nice things about having mechanized infantry with you during operations is that they have IFVs in which the crew can ride during the remainder of that battle. In the context of a large, Cold War near-peer engagement, if a tank crew survives the disabling of their tank, they'll bail with their assigned emergency small arms (M3 grease guns up to the Persian Gulf War, M4 carbines afterwards) and try to either stay with or rejoin their unit. It's not like you're asking a cook to fly a F16. so its not a big deal to refit tankers as infantry. In the US army tank crews are also trained in basic infantry tactics, weapons, skills, etc. Just because a tank crew losses its tank doesn't mean they can't continue the fight as infantry, unless they are injured of course. Remember, tanks are kinda at a disadvantage in urban environments anyway. You also cannot fit them down all the tight narrow alleyways that enemy forces loved to use as attack/egress routes. They kept their tanks (M1 Abrams) parked at the major base outside of Baghdad, and were given lighter vehicles (HMMWVs) to essentially act as motorized infantry.Īside from major highways, you can't drive a tank through Baghdad without causing an absurd level of collateral damage, the tracks of these 70 ton vehicles just eat up the asphalt and grind curbs/medians/sidewalks into dust. The US army had a shortage of infantry for its occupation of Baghdad 2006-2010, so it refitted several tank battalions as infantry. They are given a new tank, or are refitted as infantry. 2/20/2023 0 Comments Mazdaspeed protegeMSP trans has a different slave cylinder with a 1 way valve.MSP trans has a stronger clutch throwout bearing release fork and larger fork pivot ball.Only the MSP has the weak factory LSD option, notorious for breaking in half at the casting.80W90 (use only above 10☌/50☏ or it will shift roughly in colder climates.) 2/20/2023 0 Comments Rita levi montalciniShe was awarded the 1986 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine jointly with Stanley Cohen, and in 2001, she was nominated Senator-for-life by Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi. In 1969, Rita Levi-Montalcini returned to Italy to manage the Centre of Neurobiology of the National Research Council (Rome), but continued to “commute” between the United States and Italy in order to monitor her laboratory at Washington University. Another fascinating book, “Cantico Di Una Vita” ( Levi-Montalcini, 2000), tells the story of NGF discovery by means of the letters that Rita wrote daily to her mother and twin sister (and latterly to her nephew). I have listed only a few examples here, since her biography and the story of NGF discovery are well known and described in the books “In Praise of Imperfection,” her autobiography ( Levi-Montalcini, 1988) and “The Saga of Nerve Growth Factor” ( Levi-montalcini, 1997). Ultimately, she demonstrated that she was a free thinker upon leaving Italy (as a lone woman, in 1946) to continue her research in the United States, and when she subsequently conceived the “theory of neurotrophins,” despite it being against the current flow of ideas on nervous system development. She was forced to publish through Vatican and Belgian scientific journals since Jews were not allowed to publish in other journals. Following her expulsion from university due to the Fascist racial laws, she set up a small laboratory in her bedroom, so as not to interrupt her research. As a young girl, she decided to become a doctor following the premature death of her childhood nanny, against the wishes of her family. Subsequently, Rita Levi-Montalcini remained a lifelong free thinker, something of which she has given us countless examples. When she asked her father what she should say when her friends inquired about her religion, he replied: “You tell them that you are a free thinker.” When Rita played in the park as a child, her friends used to ask her two questions: what does your father do? What is your religion? Rita had no difficulty in answering the first question: her father was an engineer, but, having been raised in a non-religious home, she was not able to respond to the second question. When I visit schools to tell young students about Rita Levi-Montalcini, I always start by repeating the story described in the first few pages of her autobiography ( Levi-Montalcini, 1988) that, in my opinion, represents a defining moment in her life. Rita Levi-Montalcini was born in 1909 in Turin and her life was both long and extraordinary. I hope she will always continue to be a source of inspiration for scientists in the future. Indeed, I believe the best way to celebrate Rita Levi-Montalcini as a woman in neuroscience is to recount how her exceptional example is a constant reminder as to why I have chosen to be a scientist. This approach has always helped me to move forward. My experience with Professor Levi-Montalcini has also provided me with a reliable path to follow, and when I encounter difficulties and challenges, I ask myself what would she have done. I was just a young researcher and deeply flattered that a Nobel Laureate, with an incredible career and extraordinary life, treated me as her equal. I also learned from her how to overcome those difficulties that are so frequent in the research field, always keeping in mind the starting point and looking toward the objective, with a factual optimism. With her welcoming and warm-hearted disposition, she taught me how to consider other people’s ideas without prejudice, to reason and not to exclude any hypothesis. Looking back on this experience, I can say that Professor Levi-Montalcini’s approach and the relationships she formed with my colleagues and me, contributed to my growth as a researcher. In 2007, drawing inspiration from her previous experiments on chick embryos, Rita Levi-Montalcini, at the age of 98, proposed a new project, and a research group, in which I was included, was formed at the European Brain Research Institute (EBRI). Prime Minister Hassan Diab’s government resigned shortly thereafter. On August 4, a massive blast in Beirut’s seaport devastated the city killing almost 200 people, injuring more than 6,000, and leaving 300,000 people without shelter. Electricity blackouts became widespread, lasting up to 22 hours per day in the summer. The economic crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic severely affected the medical sector, endangering the ability of hospitals to provide life-saving care. The Covid-19 pandemic compounded poverty and economic hardship. The Lebanese Pound has lost 80 percent of its value since October 2019, eroding people’s ability to access basic goods, including food, shelter, and healthcare. The Lebanese political class failed to adequately address any of these crises, some of which were of their own making. In 2020, Lebanon endured multiple crises, including a massive explosion in Beirut’s port, an economic collapse, rising political instability, and the Covid-19 global pandemic, all of which endangered residents’ basic rights. 2/20/2023 0 Comments Schlage keypad door lockThe smart locks market research report is one of a series of new reports that provides smart locks market statistics, including smart locks industry global market size, regional shares, competitors with a smart locks market share, detailed smart locks market segments, market trends and opportunities, and any further data you may need to thrive in the smart locks industry. So what happened when it was released ? well, not being proficient with the Unreal Engine 3 meant the game came out a buggy mess, and on top of that, it also was very poorly optimized, to the point it played like a slideshow, you could literally count each frame as it went by during combat, and that was on a console.īut to save time and cut into the heart of the issue really, it is that Kawazu back in the day didn't like making games that handheld players in anyway, so barely any tutorials were given to the player, then you add to that the fact that this game has one of the most complex and deep gaming mechanics not only in the series, but in the genre in general, and you can see why so many people just couldn't get into the game. This alone is spelled disaster for the game's future, and then you add to it that it's a SaGa (Kawazu) game that confusingly wasn't called SaGa, it was the first time they used the Unreal Engine 3 to make a JRPG, a JRPG on the Xbox360, and that the game was meant to appeal to both Japanese and Western audience at the same time, and it's a mystery it didn't do worse. Oooh boy, where to start ? well I guess we should start from before it was made, the game (allegedly) was going to be another SaGa title from Kawazu, but with an actual big budget this time, and it would be the first SquareEnix game that will be release in Japan and in the West at the same time. |
